Varandha ghat – shivtharghal – tamhini ghat round trip

Wonderful drive with white-milky waterfalls in rainy season

We had a plan to go to Shivtharghal and come back to Pune, but one of my friend suggested to have round trip as “Varandha ghat – Shivtharghal – tamhini ghat”.
Shivthargal is around 117 km from Pune via Bhor and Varandha  ghat and this round trip just increased 50 km in our journey.

It was just an amazing , wonderful, next to heaven ….. so on…. I do not have words to explain that beauty of mountains and waterfalls.
We started from Baner Pune by 7 am on Mumbai Bangalore highway towards Satara.  We turned on right  for Bhor.
We found Necklace point created naturally by round shape of Nira river waterflow.

The Varandha ghat is in the Sahyadri range after Bhor towards Mahad and we can say it joins Konkan and Pune. It is 108 kilometres from Pune.
On the way , you can see BhatGhar dam, it is truly very big dam at road side only.

After crossing Bhatghar dam, there was a small, clean river. We enjoyed photography a lot. It was not crowdie at all.
We reached to Nira-devghar Dam enjoying the beautiful green green  scenes.

The route from Niradevghar Dam up to the start of the ghat has many twists and turns and skirts the backwaters of the dam.
We could find peacock also in this dam area. We just heard them no sights.
Shivtharghal is a just 15 km away from this road.
We had breakfast at one small snack center and started for Shivthar ghal.
There was one random stop for watching waterfall falling from very huge distance.

Fortunately we clicked photos quickly later it got covered by fog.
Climate got so foggy, visibility was almost 10-15 meters only.
The monkey point arrived after this random stop. There were lots of monkeys playing, eating, snatching things from other tourists. We had butta (sweet-corns)  there and started for Shivthar ghal.

There are 2 roads to Shivtharghal, One at the start of varandha ghat
and it is shortcut of just 9 kms , but never go via this short cut as this road is bad , very dangerous and steep decline.
Take a road towards Mahad and there is good 2 way road exist ahead. As we were going for first time, we were not aware of this second road.
This is the place where Shri Ramdas swami dictated Dasbodh to Kalyan swami, his follower.
The campus includes the actual cave under the waterfall, Ramdas Swami temple, dining hall and accommodation.
Between 12:00 noon and 1:30 pm, the visitors can have the prasad consisting of tasty Moong Dal Khichadi.
We can go the upper side of waterfall by taking steps near to dining hall of temple.
After enjoying here, we started our return journey to Pune via Mahad-Mangaon- Tamhini ghat.

Through beautiful waterfalls, foggy climate, green mountains, hide-n-seek of rain and sunlight, we reached Pune by 8.30 pm.

What to see :  Necklace point of Nira river, Bhatghar dam,  Nira devghar (Nira deoghar) dam , Varandha ghat with waterfalls , monkey point , Shivthar ghal , Tamhini ghat
